Mailbox Sensor System
Project type
Multidisciplinary Engineering Project
Date
Spring 2025
Location
Boulder, Colorado
The goal of this project was to design a mailbox that could detect incoming mail and send a notification to the user. Working with four other students, we built a connected system using an ESP32, an ultrasonic sensor, multiple IR sensors, and a custom 3D-printed and laser cut housing. I handled much of the technical development, including designing the sensor mount and PCB, fabricating parts of the housing, programming sections of the ESP32, and testing the sensors. Through this work, I gained experience in embedded programming, PCB design, hardware to software integration, and preparing PDR and CDR presentations
